Introduction
Score and Rank Chart
Overview
The RoboMaster Organizing Committee has established a Scoring and Ranking System for the RoboMaster University Championship and the RoboMaster University League, and released the RoboMaster Score and Rank Chart for universities (hereinafter referred to as "Score and Rank Chart").
The RMUC is the premier event in the university series — a higher-level competition in terms of team size, technical level, and other factors. Each season, teams compete through the technical‑assessment process for 96 regional qualification slots.
The RMUL 3V3 Match preserves the head‑to‑head nature of the RMUC but has simpler rules, requires fewer robots, and demands less manpower and budget. RMUL is open to university teams worldwide and is suitable for teams to gain experience and accumulate points that help them qualify for the RMUC.
Type of Team
Based on the Ranking for domestic university teams, teams are classified as Tier 1 teams or Tier 2 teams. A team’s type changes dynamically with its position in the Score and Rank Chart each season.
Tier 1 teams
Definition: university teams ranked among the top 72 on the Score and Rank Chart.
Participation benefits:
Priority for seed selection and some reserved referee slots, plus more official promotion and website exposure.
Tier 1 teams that register for RMUL do not need to pass the technical‑assessment milestones and receive direct RMUL entry.
In RMUL, Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams are awarded in separate groups; subject to minimum participation requirements, Tier 1 teams can receive awards as low as second prize, but Tier 1 teams do not earn scores from RMUL awards.
Tier 2 teams
Definition: university teams ranked 73rd and below on the Score and Rank Chart — RMU’s rising/emerging teams.
Paths to participate:
Tier 2 teams with sufficient technical capability, team size, and budget may apply to RMUC. After passing all stages of the technical‑assessment process, they can obtain a regional spot in RMUC.
Teams can register for RMUL to gain experience, accumulate scores, and win awards. Top performers in the 3V3 Match earn significant points; if a team’s ranking rises into the top 72 in future seasons, it will be promoted to Tier 1 and obtain the associated benefits.
Score Calculation Rules
The Score and Rank Chart is updated at the start of each season (every year in October–November). A team’s scores for the current season are calculated from its results in the last three seasons. The calculation rules are:
1. Final scores for the current season n: PN=0.5×Pn−1+0.3×Pn−2+0.2×Pn−3
2. Some score values are assigned directly by the RoboMaster Organizing Committee. These include: scores for the top four at each RMUL site, scores for last‑place and second‑to‑last in RMUL and RMUC regional groups (where applicable), and scores for each placement at the RMUC Final Tournament.
3. FIf group structures of different sizes coexist (for example, some groups of 3 teams with 1 advancing, groups of 4 teams with 2 advancing, and groups of 5 teams with 2 advancing), the following equalities are applied:
2nd place in a 3‑team group, 3rd place in a 4‑team group, and 3rd place in a 5‑team group receive the same scores.
3rd place in a 3‑team group, 4th place in a 4‑team group, and 5th place in a 5‑team group receive the same scores.
4th place in a 5‑team group receives the midpoint value between the 3rd‑place and 5th‑place scores.
4.For placements whose score values are not directly assigned, scores are computed using the following formula. Suppose in an RMUC region:
M = number of slots advancing to the Final Tournament,
X = points assigned to the national group 4th place (i.e., last place),
Q = total number of teams in the region’s group stage,
Y = points assigned to the region’s group 3rd place (i.e., second‑to‑last),
N = the team’s placement (N is within the placement range).
Then the points for placement N are:
PN=(X−Y)×⌈4Q−M⌉+1⌊4Q−N⌋+1+Y
5. If a university earns scores from both RMUC and RMUL in the same season, or from multiple stages of RMUC in the same season, the university’s season scores equal the highest single score value earned that season.
6. When displaying final scores, values are rounded to two decimal places (standard rounding). However, official rankings are based on the original unrounded values. If multiple universities have identical points, they share the same rank. If a tie must be broken for a definitive ordering, compare the season points in descending order by recency (the team with higher scores in the most recent season ranks higher). If all three season scores are equal, rank by the average net base HP margin (average net Base HP margin) across all valid matches in the most recent season; the higher average ranks higher.
Score and Rank Chart by events
Example: RoboMaster University achieved the following:
·2021: RMUC Regional Competition group stage— 3rd place (8 scores)
·2022: RMUC Regional Competition — top 12 (11.2 scores)
·2023: RMUC Final Tournament — top 32 (16 scores)
Roma’s final scores for the 2024 ranking are: 0.5×16+0.3×11.2+0.2×8=12.96
Note:
1. Special circumstances:
·Due to the COVID‑19 pandemic, RMUC scores for the 2020 season were determined by online assessment score rankings.
·For the 2022 season, RMUC scores were determined by regional competition rankings; RMUL scores were determined by online assessment score rankings, with the online assessment rankings calculated on the default assumption of 24 teams per RMUL site.
2.Number of participants:
·The table above uses the examples of 32 teams per RMUC region and either 16 or 24 teams per RMUL site. If the actual number of participants differs, scores for each placement shall be calculated according to the scores calculation logic.
·If the actual number of participating teams is too small, if groups are organized unusually, or if some placements remain undecided after group advancement such that the calculated points become unreasonable, the RoboMaster Organizing Committee will make reasonable adjustments to the scores calculation logic based on actual participation.
3.Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas universities:
·Because the number of teams differs between Chinese Mainland and international regions in RMUC, if a team competes across regions, its points will be converted by a certain ratio; the RoboMaster Organizing Committee will determine the conversion on a case‑by‑case basis.
·For the 2026 season, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas universities that have successfully participated in RMUC on-site competitions in the previous three seasons will have their scores converted. Specifically, teams that successfully participated in the Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan/overseas region and entered the first round of the Wildcard bracket will be assigned points corresponding to regional ranks 13–16; teams that advance to the second round will be assigned scores corresponding to regional ranks 9–12.
4.Universities vs. teams:
·Scores on the Ranking are tied to the university, not to an individual team entry. If the same university fielded two different teams across the past three seasons, the university’s current‑season assessment score will combine the results of those different teams in their respective years.
·If a university fields both a representative team and non‑representative teams, only the representative team’s results will be counted in the RoboMaster University Score and Rank Chart.
·If a university participates in RMUC during a season as part of a new joint team (alliance), that university’s season points will be the higher of the points among the universities in the alliance, and the scores earned by the alliance will be attributed to all universities in the alliance. (See RoboMaster 2026 University Series Representative List for details)
The RoboMaster Organizing Committee reserves the final right of interpretation for this scoring and ranking system.
The RoboMaster Organizing Committee has established a scoring and ranking system for RMUC and RMUL, and publishes the RoboMaster University Score and Rank Chart (hereafter “the Score and Rank Chart”).
