FAQ

The RoboMaster University League (RMUL), which is sponsored by local academic institutions and universities, aims to promote the exchange of robotics technology between regional universities, foster a supportive academic environment, and contribute to regional technological innovation and development. Participating teams can also advance to the RoboMaster University Championship through the Scoring and Ranking System .

Rules Overview

The RMUL 2024 includes Standard Match and 3V3 Match.
In the "Standard Match", Standard robots from each team (1V1) fight against each other by shooting the Armor Modules. At the end of the match, the team with the highest remaining Standard HP wins.

The RoboMaster University League is open to universities around the world. If you love robots and want to showcase your talent and smarts, come and join us!

Starting a team

Each team must represent a university or college, gathering students from mechanical, electronics, control, software, computer, publicity, and other related majors to form a research and development team. Regular team members must be full-time junior college students, undergraduates, postgraduates, or doctoral students during the period from September 2023 to August 2024 with student status at the school of the participating team.
Number of participants per team: 2-12 (depending on the specific challenge)
Requirement: In principle, only one team per school is eligible to participate in a challenge, and intercollegiate teams are not allowed.

Register for the competition

At the official registration stage, Login to the RoboMaster website and click the “Registration Center” to register your personal and team information. You can choose to create a new team or join an existing one. Each participating team can choose a competition site freely. If the selected site is full, the RoboMaster Organizing Committee will negotiate and adjust it according to the region of the university where the team is located after the registration.

Get support

Material Discount Support: Participating teams can purchase the required materials at educational discount prices with shipping and customs duties exempted. Teams that meet certain criteria can also enjoy an additional limited discount on the Standard Kits. For more details, see RMU 2024 Instructions for Purchasing Materials.
Participant support: The RoboMaster Organizing Committee will provide comprehensive support for participants, including project management, sponsorship, promotion, and technical research and development. Technical assessment

In the R&D stage, participating teams must take part in the technical assessment by submitting videos, pictures, documents at the specified time to show the progress of competition preparation to the RoboMaster Organizing Committee.
The RoboMaster Organizing Committee will decide whether the participating teams are qualified for the competition according to the progress of robot development shown in each round of technical assessment. Additionally, teams that pass each round of technical assessment on time will receive further materials discount support from the RoboMaster Organizing Committee.
For technical assessment specifications for tier-1 and tier-2 teams, see RMU 2024 Specifications Manuals

Get qualified

Tier-1 and tier-2 teams that have passed all the technical assessments will be qualified for the RMUL.

Q1: What teams are suitable for the RMUL?

A1: With simpler rules, fewer robots required and multiple competition sites, the RMUL is a good choice for start-up or newly formed teams. The format of RMUL is similar to that of RMUC. Teams that wish to take part in the RMUC in the future are recommended to register for the nearest RMUL site to accumulate points. Teams that rank top in the Score and Rank Chart will be eligible for the Regional Competition of RMUC in the next season.

Q2: How do I obtain official information released by the RoboMaster Organizing Committee?

A2:The RoboMaster Organizing Committee will update important information on the official RoboMaster website and forum. After the team successfully registers, the RoboMaster Organizing Committee will contact the captain and synchronize important information to the team through the official website, email, WeChat, and other channels. For more details, see RoboMaster Organizing Committee Official Contact Details and FAQ Rules.

Q3:How do I purchase necessary materials after registration?

A3:Teams can purchase accessories and kits from the official website, but they need to design and develop their own robots for the competition. The RoboMaster Organizing Committee will provide exclusive material discounts for the registered teams. For more details, see RMU 2024 Instructions for Purchasing Materials.

Q4: How much should our team budget for the competition preparation?

A4: It depends on how much money is actually available and the investment per robot is approximately RMB 10,000 to RMB 20,000. The travel budget depends on a team's distance to the competition venue. For more information, please refer to the RoboMaster 2024 Reference Budget Table. The Organizing Committee encourages teams to increase income, reduce expenditure and learn about advanced management and R&D methods to control costs.

Q5: How do I improve our team's technical and managerial skills?

A5: The RoboMaster Training System encompasses the RoboMaster Participant Training Guide, R&D knowledge base, course salons, open source materials, and intramural challenges, helping teams to quickly understand the event and get started.

Q6: How to apply for organizing a RMUL tournament?

A6: The team's supervisor or the representative of the school or college sends the application information to robomaster@dji.com. The application information includes but is not limited to name of the school, contact person, budget plan, and basic information of the stadium. The RMOC will evaluate and respond to the application within 3-5 working days.
